For me personally, first I put the Professional Experience section first before the Education section. Emphasize more on this section. Then I will put all the relevant professional skills and achievements. Then in the Education section I will state any professional certifications and training instead of just stating which high school you graduated from.

I think you should highlight your career achievements since that is your greatest achievement. I attended a resume writing class in college and the rule of thumb for college grads like myself is to put our educational creditials before career experiences since most new grads have little or no real working experiences. But the guidelines also advices us to move our educational experience down when working experiences are more than 2 years so highlighting your most recent achievements rather than something few years back.

This is a pretty good reference.

Just stumbled upon this question. I can relate to your question because I myself never went to college. The functional resume always works for me because I state my professional profile and skills first then followed by my professional experience. By the time most recruiters get to the bottom where the education part is, they are already won over by my other abilities.
